The Carnation is a widely popular flower throughout the world for its beauty and arrangement of color. The Carnation otherwise known as Dianthus caryophyllus, is thought to be from the Mediterranean but it is not known due to its extreme cultivation by humans over 2,000 years.

The Carnation is very similar to other flowers and begins to bloom in the Spring months, usually around May. However, regular cutting of the head of the Carnation can continue its growth into the summer months by releasing new buds. Many people believe that the Carnations spectrum of colors was human done, but this is actually its natural colors! Be ready to celebrate the Carnation in the coming months as January 29th is national Carnation day.
